Almost every favorite memory these two have from growing up happened on a lake somewhere. So when it came time to pick a wedding venue for their happiest day yet, they knew it had to be on the water. Enter, Heidel House in Green Lake. Once they found this venue, it didn’t take a lot of debating. Just like the two of them, it just felt right.
So on wedding day, they stood in the brightest sun (maybe of the whole season) and looked into each other’s eyes with 200 of their favorite people witnessing. The water glistened behind them, the birds chirped in the trees that surrounded them, and they went from engaged to MARRIED!

When Josh and Jenna met, Jenna was in a deep New Girl phase, as her maid of honor attested to on wedding day. So when she saw Josh across the room, the first thing that came out of her mouth wasn’t “who’s that.”
It was “It’s Nick Miller!“
They kissed that same night, and that was pretty much it for both of them. They effortlessly fit together with laughter and joy always leading the way. We love that their whole relationship started with a sitcom reference and zero overthinking, because that’s honestly true love works best, am I right?! 😉

The short version is water, light, and short walks. The Heidel House sits on 750 feet of shoreline on Green Lake, which is the deepest inland lake in Wisconsin, and that water bounces light back at you in a way nothing else really does. The ceremony lawn, the piers, and the grounds are all a few steps from each other, so nobody’s watching a shuttle schedule and your timeline actually holds together.
If you’re planning a lakeside ceremony here, our one piece of advice as Green Lake wedding photographers is to leave a pocket open in the evening. Even ten minutes away from the reception while the light is going soft over the water will get you the portraits you’ll love to hang on a wall.
Whether you’re drawn to the Heidel House or another lakeside venue in Wisconsin, your day should feel like you. Let’s make it unforgettable. Reach out here to connect and see more of our work.
