The Carriage House, Oconomowoc

Ashley and Zach’s Carriage House wedding was an absolutely stunning day! We enjoyed celebrating their love in the midst of their friends and family.

Ashley and Zach met in college at UW-Madison. After being friends for a while, a first date was inevitable, and the rest is history. After college, their relationship had a long-distance stint; and this was when they knew their relationship was so special and something they couldn’t live without.

When it came time to propose, Ashley actually thought that Zach was going to propose a few weeks before he did:

Well, funny story. I thought he was going to propose a few weeks before he actually did. He told me his coworker asked us to go to dinner in Madison one Friday night, so I thought FOR SURE this was his made-up story to get me there. I made sure I looked nice, curled my hair, etc. so everything would be perfect. When we got there he told me that they were running late and we should take a stroll around the capitol while we waited. In my head I was like, “It’s go time.” We walked around the capitol, nothing happened. We walked back to the restaurant. Nothing happened. We had dinner with his coworker and went home. I think back and laugh about it now, but I thought for sure that was going to be the night.

Instead, he caught me off guard on a fall hike to Holy Hill with a small group of our friends (+ all the dogs). It was a beautiful chilly day, all the leaves had changed. On our way back we stopped for a photo opp and he got down on his knee. Our friends knew the whole time and were prepared to snap pictures of the special moment. I was very surprised this time. We dropped a pin at the location on the trail we were at, carved our initials into a nearby tree trunk, and popped a mini bottle of champagne that he had hidden in his pocket the whole hike. It turned out way better than a dinner date in Madison!
