Ah, these two. You’ll know exactly what I mean in just a moment as you look through their Vilas Park engagement photos. Beth + Brett are best friends, meant to be, better together, and all of the stuff we LOVE photographing. Looking at these two just makes you smile… and we’re reminded, yet again, why being wedding photographers is the BEST job in the world! It’s the best because we get to see all the good and lovely and beautiful things going on in this world… and how two people in love can light up the world with that love. Beth & Brett are a perfect example of that.

They met in high school in a small gym class, both of them being student athletes. Fate would have it that there was a girls-ask-the-guys dance coming up, and Beth asked Brett. He was so excited that she did, and their first date at the dance was more than memorable. The dance was great, of course; but afterward, they got snowed in at a friends’ house where they talked all night long until the early (or late) morning! 🙂 Brett recalls that though he was normally pretty shy, it was so easy and natural to talk to Beth. The seed was planted. They were hooked. 🙂

They became inseparable, and when Beth went away to LaCrosse for college, they both knew this was something they didn’t want to lose. The next year Brett went to Madison to play for the Badgers, and Beth transferred there as well. As time went on, it just became more clear to them both that this was forever. Fast forward a couple of years to when Brett bought a ring. It was January; and Brett had been gone for a week, so he knew he wanted to spend time with Beth and ask the big question. As January tends to be, it was cold. He planned to walk her around the Capitol and ask her there, but they both couldn’t bear being out in the cold, so they went home. He thought about waiting until another day but decided against it. When they arrived at home, he gave her a big hug, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife. She, of course, said YES! 🙂

We met Beth a couple weeks later at the Wonderful World of Weddings show and then the next weekend at the Madison Winter Bridal Expo (which is when we met Brett for the first time). Our first impressions of these two – their sweetness, both together and separate – are so accurate. Being able to see them together and capture these favorites from their Vilas Park engagement session was fantastic. To say we’re looking forward to their February wedding would be an understatement. (But in the mean time, we have a lot of cheering to do when Badger football season begins!) 😉
