Emily & Steve
Wauwatosa Wedding Photographer
I can imagine that when Emily & Steve started planning their April Wauwatosa wedding, they envisioned the possibility of rain. Rain is a common occurrence during Wisconsin springtime, as any of us Wisconsinites can tell you. I can also imagine that when Emily & Steve started planning their April Wauwatosa wedding, they most likely didn’t envision record winds and a potentially historic snow storm. Yet this is what their wedding day decided on as far as the weather went. What I love about strange weather on the wedding day is that it really doesn’t impact the reality and importance of what happens that day. Emily & Steve couldn’t have been happier together, regardless of what was going on outside. Their reality of enduring love wasn’t daunted by the passing patterns of the skies. There were anxious nerves, happy tears, and many gorgeous and genuine smiles.
We were fortunate enough to start pretty early in the wedding day with Emily & Steve as they prepared for the day; and there were many sweet moments we had the pleasure of capturing. I think those early preparation moments may be some of my new favorites as a photographer. Emily’s details were gorgeous with the emerald touches, and Steve wore his grandfather’s watch, which was extra special. (Yes, we just love those details!)
Their wedding ceremony at St. Joseph’s was simple and beautiful. Emily’s bridesmaid beautifully sang Ave Maria, which made a few happy tears fall between the two of them throughout the song. And while Emily & Steve made their vows, the side-blowing rain gracefully changed into snow. After the ceremony, I overheard the priest say that it was beautifully symbolic to see the weather’s transformation from rain to snow just as Emily and Steve began their own transformation into husband and wife.
The bridal party enjoyed their limo-bus as it made stops around historic downtown Milwaukee. We were fortunate enough to take coverage inside the Milwaukee Public Library for a few pictures, but Emily and Steve were incredibly brave and didn’t stop there. We grabbed just a few photos outside in the Third Ward (yes to Milwaukee vibes!), and they were SO worth it! The rain (or snow) glistening on the streets of Milwaukee, two beautiful people exuding love and excitement – these pictures are filled with so much happiness (which makes US feel so fulfilled by this amazing job we have)!
Every little detail about the day – the weather, the flowers, cake, dress, etc – was an integral part in telling their story. As with every wedding, it is not only an incredible honor but also an incredible joy for us to capture these integral pieces of a story. A huge thank you to Emily & Steve for allowing us to take joy in their love & their wedding day! Here are some of our favorite images from their beautiful wedding day!
