Katherine & Michael
Wisconsin Club Wedding
This Wisconsin Club wedding was such a beautiful day. We not only were able to celebrate with Mike & Katie, but we were also able to visit so many gorgeous spots with them and their bridal party. We loved the variety of locations included in this busy and beautiful wedding day. From The Wisconsin Club to Marquette University’s campus, their wedding day was so much fun and so very “Milwaukee-esque.”
How They Met
Katie & Mike met on the Marquette University’s track team. When Mike was first introduced to Katie, he thought to himself, “Man, college track is gonna be awesome!” As Katie recalls, ” We started off as teammates and friends (albeit flirty friends) and then started dating at the beginning of our senior year. We got together at the classic Marquette Track and Field event, $5 prom. There I was in a navy dress with huge poofy sleeves with a big bow on the back and there was Mike in a blaze orange hunting hat with safety glasses. What was there not to love?!”
After they started dating, it didn’t take them long to realize how amazing their relationship was and where it was headed. Mike planned to propose to Katie after she got back from a work trip to Budapest. Katie could tell by Mike’s impatient text messages (prompting the airline to “please hurry up”) that there might be something more happening. When he told her to pack a bag for an impromptu overnight trip, she knew this was it! They spent the two hour drive pretending to small talk. When they arrived at the cabin in Door County, Mike walked her out on the porch, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Katie says,
“Probably my favorite part is that he accidentally opened the ring upside down. I could tell he was so nervous! Somewhere between a cry and shout I said, ‘yes. Yes, yes, yes!’. He helped me put the ring on and then we had about an hour of just freaking out that we were engaged! We sat on the porch swing, drank champagne, took a few selfies, and called our families. It was absolutely perfect.”
Their Wedding Day
We began the day at the historic Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee. The men prepared downstairs on the main level, while the girls had the second floor. This was our first time at the Wisconsin Club, and we were SO excited about it! There’s something absolutely thrilling about historic buildings like this one. The details, the woodwork, the overall decor – it was all so much fun to photograph.
Their wedding ceremony took place at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. There was such joy on their faces as Katie walked down the aisle toward Mike. Katie was stunning in her Morilee gown with a cathedral veil and ornate train! She was the perfect compliment to a stunning Cathedral. After exchanging their vows and making their promises, they were pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Saindon!
We finished up the family photos and headed out to the beautiful weather! From the Art Museum to St Joan of Arc to the Marquette University track and field, we loved each and every stop with this energetic bridal party. When we made it back to the Wisconsin Club, it was time for a relaxing cocktail hour, followed by a delicious dinner. We listened to touching speeches and tributes to the two of them, both individually and as a couple. Following speeches, we took Katie & Mike outside for some gorgeous sunset photos! (Take a look at that stunning sky!) What started as a cloudy, overcast day made way for sunshine just at the right moment!
After that, it was time for dancing! We loved Mike & Katie’s intimate first dance. We loved how Mike and his mom laughed their way through their dance together. And we loved how Katie’s dad put together a slideshow to preclude their choreographed dance together. Overall, it was such a joy to watch Katie & Mike together on their wedding day.
In Conclusion
Katie and Mike are both incredibly determined individuals. They have a passion for life and a determination to do their absolute best in every endeavor. As their friends and family mentioned during their wedding day, these characteristics will serve them well in marriage. Their passion, love for life, and overall determination will be the catalyst to creating the best marriage they can imagine. They are the perfect compliment to each other. Katie is the spunk and energy. Mike is the calm strength and sarcastic humor. They fit together like puzzle pieces, and it’s so evident that they love each other so, so thoroughly. It was a joy to document their day, capture some beautiful moments and memories, and in general observe their wide and vast love for one another. Enjoy our favorites from their Wisconsin Club wedding day!
