Are you dreaming of starting a wedding photography business but have no idea where to start? Are you a new wedding photographer just hoping to find clients to fill that currently quieter-than-desired calendar? Are you a current wedding photographer who feels like you’re missing something – like your inquiries and potential clients are almost there, but they disappear at the last minute and you’re not sure why?
If you’re in any of those places, then I have a treat for you today because I’m sharing three simple steps you can take today to start moving the needle of your business and reaching your goal of being a full-time wedding photographer!
As someone who has been in this industry for nearly a decade, I have had many struggles and many successes. Getting started in wedding photography can be overwhelming, to say the least. There is a plethora of information, not to mention the endless amounts of money you could spend on gear and education. And while all of that is very important, it’s not necessarily the first place you need to start.
Today, I’m going to give you three things you can do to start building a magnetic wedding photography brand, regardless of where you are with your technical skill or your gear repertoire. (Heck, even if you’re not a photographer, these three tips could be applied to your specific business niche.)
So, here are three simple things you can do today to get your wedding photography business started with enthusiasm:
- Create three words to describe your brand and style. Branding is such a huge part of a business, no matter the niche. Creating three words to describe your photography style and personal brand is a great way to make sure that all of your images and messaging are staying consistent.
- Design a styled shoot that embodies these three words and your photography style. Styled shoots are so much fun, but they’re also a great way to flex your creative muscles and showcase the way you view the world.
- Market those images with intent, and show the world your magic. I can’t live without my social media planning system, which truly helps me be intentional about the images I’m sharing and the message that goes with them. (More about that in this post here.)
