HEY, IT'S EMILY

Emily & Josh | Elegant Farm Wedding

Where do we even begin with this elegant Wisconsin farm wedding? Everything from Emily & Joshua’s incredible wedding day was done by either the two of them or their close family and friends. (That’s NOT an exaggeration!) As a family tradition, Emily and her mom designed and sewed her wedding dress together, just as Emily’s mom had done with her mother. Many hours of hand stitching were lovingly poured into the gorgeous gown. The flowers that accented to the wedding were grown mostly by Emily’s cousins at their farm, though some of the flowers were started from seed by Emily & Josh themselves. The archway for the wedding ceremony was created with old barn boards from the family farm, and Emily traveled to China and brought back the silk materials to make her bridesmaids’ robes (and sewed them)! The list goes on!

These two met at Growing Power, an urban farm in Milwaukee; and there, in the midst of planting and growing, their love blossomed. We loved the personal touches that accented every part of their wedding day – from their Growing Power boss being their wedding officiant to the specific readings they chose, to the gifts they gave one another (as well as friends and family) – everything had meaning. That’s because Emily & Joshua are intentional people. Their personalities are deep and vast beyond that, but they seek to live life with intentionality. It’s one of the things we loved most about watching them together, and it was very evident in how they planned and enjoyed their wedding day. This wedding was not only a celebration of Emily & Josh’s love for one another, but every project that led up to their wedding day was an intentional way to spend time with family and friends while creating beautiful and lasting memories (and wedding decor)!

Their wedding day weather was perfect. The sun shone beautifully over the Hoffman family farm (Emily’s family), as guests were brought in by the tractor load. 🙂 A beautiful walk to the ceremony site overlooking acres upon acres of beauty was the perfect place for them to exchange their promises. In front of family and friends, they shared their hearts and cried tears of joy. Following the ceremony, guests mingled with good drinks and great company, followed by a delicious dinner… followed by a great dance party! We were able to witness one of the most beautiful golden sunsets (and oh, my! We were in the perfect location for such a sunset)! After the dark set in, Emily’s dad arranged a screening of The Princess Bride, a book that has meant so much to Emily & Joshua in their relationship together.

In all, the day was a dream. Emily & Joshua are perfectly suited to each other, and it has been a pleasure and an honor to document their love. Enjoy these favorites from their elegant Wisconsin farm wedding!

Amazing photos for an amazing couple! My son-in-law was the best man and brother of the groom so it was great to see this family wedding that my daughter talked so lovingly about.
