Christine and Scott’s Farm at Dover wedding was intimate, rustic-elegant, and filled with joy! The heart that Chris & Scott have for each other, their families, and their friends is something John and I walked away inspired by. They are two people who match each other in kindness, humor, and devotion. As we wrote about in their Boerner Botanical Gardens engagement post, they met at a co-worker’s retirement party, quickly hit it off, and (almost as quickly) knew this. was. IT. And it’s true! They have found in each other joy, friendship, humor, and true love. All of this was beautifully obvious during their Farm at Dover wedding.
The day started out cloudy and overcast. (To some brides that might seem a bit dreary, but for a photographer, it’s not so bad. The clouds act like a giant softbox, creating gorgeous even light across everything.) The Farm at Dover has the most amazing house and hunting cabin for the men and women to get ready in, each with it’s own character and charm; and I quickly fell in love with all the small details that make this venue incredibly unique and perfectly suited for Chris & Scott’s wedding. Christine’s wedding dress was heart-stoppingly gorgeous – even moreso when she put it on! She had lace from her mother’s wedding gown sewn into her beautiful bouquet by Garden Party Florist, which, along with her elegant handkerchief, was the perfect heirloom touch. Watching Christine’s face as she looked in the mirror, hair and makeup done, wedding dress on, at the moment when it all gets real – was beautiful. She was filled with pure joy and true excitement.
Scott was calm and steady all day long, but never without a joke on his tongue and a twinkle in his eye as he looked at his bride. Their wedding ceremony was so heartfelt. Christine & Scott created beautiful tributes to each of their parents, which they read during the ceremony. They also wrote their vows, each of them including many serious promises with humor scattered in between. They know how to love passionately while keeping the humor alive, and Chris & Scott, it will serve you well! Those of us who have been married for any period of time can appreciate the fact that humor is an important part of marriage. We can’t take each other too seriously all the time (a lesson I’m still learning), and “a cheerful heart is good medicine.”
Nothing quite sums up their wedding and marriage like Christine’s words: “Scott and I have the most fun adventures ahead of us.” It is so true, and they’ll embark on these adventures with family & friends by their side. Congrats, Christine & Scott, on a beautiful wedding that was filled with joy and meaning. Thanks for letting us be a part of your day to capture the memories that will continually remind you where and how it all began. Keep your humor and admiration for one another. We can’t wait to see what life brings for you two!
