This Third Ward Milwaukee engagement session comes with one of the sweetest stories of two people meeting and falling in love. Heidi and John met freshman year in college through some mutual friends. As with many relationships, they didn’t hang out right away; but once they did, they fell head over heels in love! They spent their first date together eating pizza and talking for hours upon hours upon hours! They both recall how crazy it was having so much in common and connecting in so many ways. John knew right away that she was the one. It was true love at first date! However, about half a year into dating, some really crazy-hard news came for John: he learned that he had cancer. Now for many people in Heidi’s situation, this kind of news would make them run the other direction – to question the relationship – to guard their own heart and potential heartache. Not Heidi. She stood by him the whole time without question. And we’re so thrilled that John is cancer free today!

John proposed to Heidi in the best way possible, but it’s more effective to hear it in Heidi’s own words: “I spent most of the [proposal] day sleeping trying to get over a wicked migraine. John took care of me and put a cold rag on my head while in slept. When I was feeling better, he asked if I wanted to play Gravwell. This is one of our favorite board games! I of course said yes, but didn’t understand why he didn’t want his brother to play, so we just went in his room. I always set up our games, so of course I sat on the bed and opened the box. I told John to put some music on. I took out the board and started putting the cards in piles. Then, I saw this red box. I thought it had his dice in it, or something from a different game. I opened it and saw a ring. I immediately closed it, thinking ‘He must have forgotten this was in here’ or ‘This can’t be real.’ I was so confused and just didn’t know what to think. John then came over by me, got on one knee, and asked if I would be his player two forever! I just kissed him and totally didn’t say yes right away because I just couldn’t find the words. I was so elated and in the moment!”

Just look at these two! They are so joyful and so in love! We incorporated a lot of the things they love into their Third Ward Milwaukee engagement session. Things like the city (what better place is there to celebrate “city” than Milwaukee’s Third Ward?!), their favorite board game, Gravwell (the one John used to propose to Heidi), their mutual love for comic books, and TEA!
